the bespoke process ...
After booking your appointment for a consultation...
Please arrive on time and allow for 1-hour for your initial consultation.
In your first consultation, we'll cover a few questions about the type of hat you're looking for, your event, budget, etc. Please see the FAQ: Some Things to Consider Before Your Consultation... After taking measurements, we'll try on a few styles and/or review colors/materials and the process for a bespoke hat. I will provide a quote with an estimate for your custom piece.
To begin the process of creating your hat, a non-refundable 50% deposit will be taken.
You may be requested to come in for additional fittings as needed.
Once your hat has been finished, you will be scheduled for for a final fitting and payment for the balance due will be taken at this time.
Alternatively, I do have clients who live outside of San Francisco or abroad, and with just a few adjustments to the process it is easy to work virtually as well.

SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE YOUR CONSULTATION...
Some things to consider before your consultation:
What is this hat for? Is it for the Kentucky Derby, a wedding, everyday wear, etc.?
This will influence the type of materials and styles that you choose.
If it is for an event: do you already have an outfit, color or inspiration in mind?
You may also want to bring your outfit with you to the consultation as often colors or hats that you hadn't considered may work well with your outfit.
If traveling, how will you transport your hat?
This will also help provide you with an idea about the size of hat you'll want.
What is your budget?
Very important to come in with a budget in mind as that will also frame the type of piece you can commit to.

ARE THERE SOME HAT RULES OR ETIQUETTES THAT I SHOULD KNOW?
While wearing a headpiece sets you apart from the crowd, there are a few etiquettes that you should follow:
Generally your fascinator or cocktail hat is designed to be worn on the right side of your head. However if you would prefer for it to be on the left side, please let me know so we can create your piece accordingly.
If attending a wedding, you do not want to wear a piece that will distract from the bridal party or parents/family of the bridal party. Generally your hat should not be larger than the mother-of-the-bride's hat. Traditionally, you are to keep your hat on until signaled by the mother-of-the-bride taking off her hat at the reception.
Additionally, it is not advisable to wear a tall hat or headpiece to a spectator sport or theatre production, you want to be sure that the person sitting behind you can also see.
Straw hats are for the spring and summer seasons, and Felt is generally for the fall and winter. However in San Francisco, we tend to break these rules as our weather is not traditionally seasonal.
Most of all, just be confident and have fun wearing your hat!
